Eat like locals do
HIKING
Climb to Krim which is 1107m high. Go on a hike through the valley, along the Ljubljana Marshes, along the Okljukec Learning Trail or the Kosec trail.
ROWING
Paddling in the refreshing rivers Bistra, Ižica, Ljubljanica across the Ljubljana marsh natural park. Rent a kayak or kanu and paddle to Ljubljana Three Bridges.
CLIMBING
On the rocky walls of the river Iška gorge, there are several climbing areas, the closest being within a 5 minutes walking distance.
CANYONING
Explore river Iška with its natural pools on a day long tour from its springs to the Chalet Iskaretreat. Or go on a trail to the confluence of river Iška and Zala and come back to the house.
HORSE RIDING
Horseback riding in the arena for the beginners and fieldriding in the Ljubljana Marshes. There are quite a few riding clubs in the area. You can also visit trotting races and horse blessing.
SWIMMING
River Iška with its natural pools is ideal for lazy hot summer days. It is just 3 minutes away from the Chalet. Lake Jezero is for everybody and it is also ideal final point for cycling.
HAYRACK
Local feature. It is hard to dry grass for fodder in a land, where it rains quite often. But our ancestors who lived in a time with no electricity ingeniously found a solution. They invented a hayrack and designed a wide shape of them. You can´t resist sketching them or taking any photos.
BEEHIVES
Put a bee veil on your head and follow beekeeper Pavle who will open the backside of his beehive and explain to you how gentle Carniolian bees live, talk and work. It will be a sensuous experience with a tasting of different kinds of honey, mead, and royal jelly. Take a few jars of honey home.
PILEDWELLERS
The permanent exhibition Pile-dwellers from the Great Lake is on view in the middle of Ig. A model of a pile-dwelling settlement, clothes, dishes, tools are on display all year round. But do not miss the pile-dwelling day in August. Children can stay at the pile-dwelling camp all week.
WILD KITCHEN
We gather wild herbs and fruits in the clearings around the house or in the forest around us. Countless challenges for your palates, cooking skills and innovation.
WILD FOOD
There is a fireplace in the garden. In the surroundings you can pick fruits and prepare them on the garden fireplace. Of course we will be happy to help you with recepies. We adore wild chestnut.
GREEN BASKET
We can connect you with small farmers. Buy home-grown vegetables, herbs, honey, diary products. It might be inspiring to talk to the locals too.
OPEN KITCHEN
